index

The past few weeks have been hugely troubling for everyone – and especially difficult and painful for people of colour. The killing of George Floyd in the US – plus the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on BAME communities in the UK –have highlighted the gaping inequalities in our societies. It has meant that many have tried to reflect upon what we might do to support our BAME communities. But where do we start?

Angela Y. Davis, the American activist, once said: “In a racist society it is not enough to be non-racist; we must be anti-racist.”

You can read here, the Guardian article by publisher and bookshop owner, Aimee Felone who explains why it’s never too early to address racism.

We also recommend Dr. Lakeisha Johnson’s website Maya’s Book Nook and Letterbox library as places to find a range of books that celebrate diversity.
